RN ICU Neuro

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the ICU with strong neuro experience will provide skilled nursing care to a high acuity neuro population including patients with cardiovascular issues, multi-trauma, stroke, STEMI, and surgical needs. The role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams in an acute care, level 2 trauma, thrombectomy-capable stroke center environment. The nurse will also float between PCU and ICU overflow units, ensuring comprehensive care for critically ill patients. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and monitor neuro and cardiovascular status.
• Administer medications and treatments according to care plans.
• Manage care for patients with multi-trauma, stroke, STEMI, CABG/Valve surgeries, IABP, CRRT, and sepsis.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide skilled nursing care in ICU, PCU, and overflow units as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and provide critical care interventions.
• Document patient care and clinical information accurately using Epic electronic medical records.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience with strong neuro expertise.
• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and LA Fire Card.
• Proficiency in caring for patients with cardiovascular, trauma, stroke, and surgical conditions.
• Ability to float between PCU and ICU overflow units.
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in thrombectomy-capable stroke centers and STEMI receiving units.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system.
• Experience with CRRT, IABP, and sepsis management.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend shifts required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Must float between like units including PCU and ICU overflow.
• Work environment is a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 377 staffed beds.
• Free parking available for staff.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments determined by unit needs; includes ICU and PCU overflow coverage.
• Typical day or night shifts in an acute care hospital setting.
