Senior Wealth Strategist

Location: Northern New Jersey, Long Island, NY, or the Baltimore/Washington DC Beltway market. This position follows a hybrid work schedule with 4 days per week in the office.

Overview:

At Wilmington Trust, we help some of the nation's most successful families, entrepreneurs, and business owners preserve, protect, and transfer wealth across generations. We are seeking an experienced Wealth Strategist to serve as a trusted advisor to ultra-high-net-worth families with complex estate, trust, tax, and wealth transfer planning needs.

This role is ideal for a Trust & Estate Attorney or seasoned wealth planning professional who enjoys solving sophisticated planning challenges and working alongside a collaborative team of wealth management specialists.

What You'll Do:

• Advise ultra-high-net-worth families, business owners, and multigenerational households, often with $10MM to $50MM+ in net worth.

• Develop and implement sophisticated estate, trust, tax, wealth transfer, business succession, and asset protection strategies.

• Review existing estate planning structures and identify opportunities to enhance wealth preservation and transfer outcomes.

• Partner with Wealth Advisors, Trust Officers, Investment Advisors, attorneys, and CPAs to deliver integrated planning solutions.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on fiduciary, trust, estate, and wealth transition matters.

• Conduct research and provide technical guidance on complex planning issues.

• Author thought leadership content and participate in client seminars, educational events, and professional advisor programs.

• Manage ongoing planning relationships for a select group of approximately 50 affluent families.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years' relevant industry experience and knowledge working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, including closely-held business owners, in estate and trust planning, wealth management/financial services, Federal transfer and/or income tax, business succession planning or in a fiduciary practice, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years' relevant industry experience and knowledge working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, including closely-held business owners, in estate and trust planning, wealth management/financial services, Federal transfer and/or income tax, business succession planning or in a fiduciary practice

• Experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients and families.

• Strong knowledge of estate planning, trust and fiduciary services, wealth transfer strategies, taxation, and asset protection planning.

• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical advice and actionable solutions.

• Strong project management skills with a proven ability to follow through and execute on client recommendations.

• Excellent written, verbal, and relationship-management skills.

• Collaborative mindset and desire to work as part of a nationally recognized team of planning professionals.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• JD (Juris Doctor) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree or Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA)

• Admission to any state Bar Association

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with focus in Federal Taxation or Estate Planning

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in wealth management and high net worth and ultra-high net worth planning, working with closely -held business owners and families and estate, trust, and tax planning experience

• Minimum of 5 years successful external focused business development experience

• Significant experience working with individuals and business owners with $20mm or more in net worth

• Demonstrated technical and consultative selling skills in financial planning disciplines and trust administration

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $170,500.00 - $284,100.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
