JOB OBJECTIVE SUMMARY:

The Residential Assistant Supervisor II is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities include: Extending the supervision and oversight of the residential program under the direction of the Residential Supervisor. Assists the assigned Residential Supervisor in supervisory activities including direct care staff supervision, training, and performance reviews, as well as supporting the Supervisor in ensuring the provision of the highest quality care and rehabilitation supports, maintaining an organized homelike environment, and meeting or exceeding all regulatory requirements. Provides direct care and supervision to those we serve.

The Residential Assistant Supervisor II's scheduled hours are intended to extend the supervision provided in the home, by increasing leadership's presence outside of the Supervisor's standard working hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee is required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as assigned by management as long as the duties are lawful, ethical, and within best business practices.

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position. (This position is not available in a remote or hybrid model. It requires working in the environment.)
  2. Under the direction of the Residential Supervisor, will assume responsibility of some of the key supervisor operational duties related to staffing in the residential environment. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Manage the Residential Program's staff schedule and maintain appropriate staffing ratios based on fluctuating census and need.
    2. Secure adequate staff coverage when call-offs occur during assigned coverage times.
    3. Assist the Supervisor in activities such as hiring, training, orientating, mentoring and increasing engagement of direct care staff.
    4. Monitor completion of required daily, monthly, and annual documentation requirements.
    5. Plan staff meetings at regular intervals.
  3. Under the direction of the Residential Supervisor, assume responsibility some of the key service quality duties related to the care provided in the residential environment. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Attending complex physician appointments and communicating the result per the defined process.
    2. Ensure staff are assigned and prepared for resident doctor appointments, including following the Doctor's Appointment Process for communication and invoicing for all appointments.
    3. Representing the program in patient care meetings including the annual review, team updates or family conferences.
  4. Be familiar with AFC and CARF standards. Educate staff on the importance of these standards. Assist with preparation for external inspections, as directed.
  5. Monitor the environment for safety and maintenance concerns. Take the lead in resolving urgent situations when they arise and follow processes for non-urgent concerns. Ensure all regulatory safety procedures are followed. May act as the Safety Officer for the program completing all necessary documentation and drills and serve as an active member of the Safety Committee.
  6. Assist with collection of data for Annual and Periodic Reviews, Predicted Outcomes, and Global Outcomes as requested by the Residential Supervisor.
  7. Serves as part of the staffing ratio; provides direct care on a regular basis, and when needed in the program.
  8. Participate in the on-call rotation as assigned.
  9. Assistant Supervisor II serves as supervisor-of-record for no more than 50% of the program's direct care staff or fifteen employees (whichever is lower); ideally those whose work schedule regularly overlaps with the Assistant Supervisor. This requires working closely with the Supervisor to align the Residential program's performance feedback, annual evaluation, merit increases, coaching and culture across all shifts.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  1. Required:
    1. Associate's degree from an accredited university or institution of higher learning plus one year of experience in a human service agency; or
    2. 2+ years in residential-based supervisory role (such as Lead Rehab Tech.
  2. Demonstrated critical thinking/problem solving skills to respond appropriately to medical and behavioral issues.
  3. At least two years working in TBI setting is preferred
  4. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to problem solve independently.
  5. Demonstrated ability to train, orientate and mentor staff.
  6. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding service issues with residents/family members/guardians in a timely and appropriate manner.
  7. Current, valid state driver's license and acceptable driving record according to Hope Network policies.
  8. Certification or ability to obtain certification in Brain Injury fundamentals within 18 months.
