Position Overview:

Search Solution Group is seeking a Medical Referral Coordinator to join a healthcare team supporting the referral process and ensuring patients receive timely access to specialty care. This role is responsible for managing a high volume of incoming referrals, coordinating appointments, verifying required information, and partnering with providers, insurance teams, and clinical staff to ensure referrals are processed accurately and efficiently.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and experienced with managing high-volume administrative workflows while maintaining excellent communication with patients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and manage a high volume of incoming medical referrals from providers, patients, and healthcare partners
• Review referral documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required guidelines
• Enter and update referral information within electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems
• Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments based on referral requirements, provider availability, and urgency
• Verify patient demographics, insurance information, eligibility, and authorization requirements as needed
• Follow up on missing documentation, referral status, authorizations, and outstanding information to prevent delays in care
• Communicate with referring offices, insurance companies, clinical teams, and patients regarding referral updates and next steps
• Track referral progress and maintain accurate records throughout the referral lifecycle
• Handle a high volume of phone calls, emails, and administrative requests while providing professional and timely support
• Identify and resolve referral issues while ensuring a positive patient experience
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a healthcare administrative role, medical referrals, patient access, scheduling, registration, or similar environment
• Experience processing high volumes of medical referrals or healthcare documentation preferred
• Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, insurance requirements, and referral processes
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar platforms) preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and internal teams
• Ability to navigate multiple systems and accurately enter detailed information
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow processes while meeting deadlines
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering a high level of service
