Finance Lead

Position Overview Reporting directly to the CEO, the Strategic Finance Lead will partner with founders and business leaders to drive the company's most important financial and strategic decisions. This role will own forecasting, planning, key performance metrics, cash visibility, and investor-ready reporting while helping establish a scalable finance function that supports continued growth. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with a practical, business-oriented mindset and is energized by operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Responsibilities Build and manage the company's operating model, including revenue, GMV, take rate, gross margin, burn, runway, headcount, and cash flow forecasting. Define, track, and maintain key marketplace and operating metrics, translating transaction data into actionable business insights. Lead budgeting, hiring plans, spending forecasts, and strategic planning processes across the organization. Monitor cash position, liquidity requirements, runway, and working capital needs. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, highlighting business performance, key drivers, and recommended actions. Develop investor presentations, board materials, diligence support documentation, and financing analyses. Partner closely with accounting leadership to ensure actual financial results are accurate, reconciled, and incorporated into planning and reporting. Identify opportunities to improve margins, operational efficiency, vendor spending, and capital allocation. Design and implement scalable financial processes, dashboards, systems, and reporting frameworks. Support strategic decision-making by evaluating investments, growth opportunities, and resource allocation initiatives. Qualifications Required 5+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, finance and strategy, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, business operations, or a finance role within a high-growth company. Strong financial modeling experience, including forecasting, scenario planning, unit economics, and cash flow analysis. Solid understanding of startup and marketplace metrics, including revenue growth, GMV, take rate, gross margin, contribution margin, burn, runway, CAC, payback, and operating leverage. Experience partnering with senior leaders on budgeting, headcount planning, performance reporting, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with imperfect or evolving data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly to diverse audiences. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and take ownership of critical business initiatives. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Experience in marketplaces, fintech, payments, lending, logistics, government technology, or other transaction-heavy industries. Experience working within venture-backed startup environments, particularly Seed through Series B stages. Experience supporting fundraising efforts, board reporting, investor communications, and strategic financing initiatives. Familiarity with marketplace economics, including liquidity, transaction margins, cohort performance, and working capital management.
