About the Role The Director, Strategic Sourcing (Store Operations) is a high-profile, high-impact, succession-planned leadership role. This position requires a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset to identify and create opportunities to reduce or avoid costs while minimizing risk across more than 2,100 existing locations, with an additional 100 added annually for a $20B+ industry leader. As the Director, you will maintain a broad sphere of influence as a trusted advisor, backed by strong leadership, project management, and communication capabilities. These skills are essential as you collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and executive leaders while partnering with a wide variety of vendors within the Store Operations function. Responsibilities Drive Strategic Sourcing Process Execution Create and implement mid-to-long-term detailed sourcing strategic plans and category roadmaps. Drive end-to-end strategic sourcing through data analysis, baseline development, financial model building, RFP development, bid management, negotiations, offer analysis, scenario development, and executive presentations. Conduct detailed savings analyses and projections, synthesizing findings into actionable recommendations. Lead RFx (RFQ, RFP, RFI) processes from end to end for projects varying in complexity, visibility, and priority. Evaluate RFx responses quantitatively and qualitatively. Conduct detailed market and vendor research, communicating findings through clear research summaries. Facilitate the development of award scenarios and recommendations for stakeholder evaluation, consideration, and decision-making. Oversee post-bid management, including supplier onboarding, spend analysis, and vendor management. Ad-Hoc Analysis, Project Support, and Project Management Work with executive leadership to identify and strategically expand the Strategic Sourcing practice with an entrepreneurial mindset. Manage both planned and ad-hoc projects from stakeholders across the enterprise. Create and execute project work plans to consistently meet timelines, goals, and objectives. Partner with business leaders to establish project roadmaps and savings tracking mechanisms. Deliver presentations and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior management. Manage the Direct Imports program across multiple store fixture categories, interfacing with overseas suppliers in Asia and domestic partners in the USA. Contract Development and Management Lead contract negotiations in close partnership with internal stakeholders and Legal teams. Assess current contracts to identify potential sourcing project opportunities. Draft and refine contract terms. Qualifications Education: BA/BS in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Engineering (Advanced degree is a plus). Experience: Minimum of 10 years of strategic sourcing and procurement experience; multi-category sourcing experience preferred across both products and services. Industry Experience: Management consulting background preferred; experience in retail is a plus. Strategic & Influencing Skills: Strategic thinking capability with a proven ability to influence multiple levels of the organization. Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, particularly when presenting to peer and executive audiences. Analytical Mindset: Strong quantitative skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving. Detail Orientation: High attention to detail with the drive to deliver quality output with minimal supervision. Relationship Building: Proven ability to listen, understand, and communicate effectively with associates across all organizational tiers. Execution & Focus: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and maintain high focus in a dynamic environment. Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required. Contract Management: Contract writing and contract management experience required. Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel required with advance notice provided. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Role requires the ability to work in an office environment, including using a computer, attending meetings, collaborating with team members, and communicating effectively. Regular attendance is required. Requires regular in-office presence for team interaction, meetings, client support, mentoring, coaching, and feedback.
