About the Role: As a Designer\Drafter in Avtron's New Product Development team, you will play a critical role in transforming conceptual designs into detailed product designs. You will collaborate closely with engineers, and other project team members to deliver new productsto the market. The role demands meticulous attention to detail to produce clear, comprehensive documentation that meets industry standards and project requirements. Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and successful project completion within the organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions: Works with Lead Project Engineer and other project team members to transform new product ideas and requirements into a prototype or pilot design Uses 3D tools such as PTC Creo to digitally prototype, increasing speed-to-market initiatives. Develop 3D design models based on concepts, sketches or previous designs to create detailed drawings, focusing on core manufacturing capabilities. Conceptualizes sheet metal design through the use of either 2 or 3D tools ensuring tolerancing requirements are met. Propose assembly and\or fabrication techniques and develop the new product's mechanical, physical and other attributes to ensure design is manufacturable at best cost. Presents, or co-presents with Lead Project Engineer model designs for technical review or design reviews, ensuring compliance with company processes Prepare comprehensive document packages for manufacturing release, including assembly drawings, Bills-of-materials and machine files Maintain drawing revision control in accordance with Avtron document control processes MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience developing and creating new products preferably in the electrical-mechanical products space Strong understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation and management. Ability to interpret engineering sketches and technical specifications accurately. Minimum 8 years of experience in related role Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirements would be a plus. EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Education: BS in Engineering or Computer Aided Design (CAD) preferred, Associate Degree in Engineering or CAD required. Experience in both 2D and 3D modeling software Strong communication and presentation skills, verbal and written Experience: Knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques relevant to manufacturing. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Prior experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with tight deadlines.
