Registered Nurse, PACU Outpatient/Inpatient Surgery (36 hours, Nights)

Schedule: 36 hours, nights, every 3rd weekend Location: Menino PACU (Outpatient/Inpatient Surgery) The Menino Post Anesthesia Care Unit / Pre‑Operative Unit is part of the new integrated procedural platform and consists of 52 bays. All bays provide advanced intensive‑care monitoring and pre‑operative care. This unit serves as a holding area for procedural patients requiring specialized cardiac and interventional care and acts as a high‑acuity recovery area for patients coming directly from the OR after surgery. Position Summary The registered nurse adheres to Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing rules and provides direct patient care. Responsibilities include nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and families across the continuum. The RN is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient‑care outcomes using the nursing department’s model of care and following agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice. Education Nursing degree required: Diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN preferred). Must obtain a BSN within 4 years if not currently held. Licenses, Certifications & Registrations Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Knowledge & Skills Basic computer proficiency, including accessing, entering and interpreting computerized data Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with team members, patients and families Organizational skills to set priorities and complete work efficiently Multilingual skills (beyond English) preferred for patient populations Relevant clinical experience or specialty; certification required for certain practice areas (e.g., enters total therapy, epidemiology, peri‑operative areas) Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality‑improvement research projects Ability to delegate appropriate patient‑care activities effectively Effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate to patient populations served Physical ability to meet core job responsibilities and practice setting demands Stress‑management skills for critical patient‑care issues, changing organizational climate, and personnel issues Experience 1+ years nursing experience required Critical care experience required (PACU, ED, ICU) Previous or current PACU experience strongly preferred Compensation Range $38.05 – $75.33 per hour. Compensation is based on qualifications, education, experience, and certifications.
