Education and Certification

Applicants must hold the RPSGT credential (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) and have at least one year of prior training and experience in sleep medicine.

Experience and Skills

A solid understanding of medical terminology and current EEG and sleep medicine procedures is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations while interacting professionally with patients, co-workers, and visitors. Familiarity with Erickson's Developmental Model across all age groupsfrom infants to adultsis important to provide effective orientation and training to staff.

Physical and Communication Requirements

The role requires manual dexterity to apply patient electrodes, operate specialized equipment, and use a keyboard. The technician must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, push heavy equipment, and have good visual acuity. The position may involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials through skin, eyes, or mucous membranes.
