Practice Analyst

Practice Analyst – Los Angeles, CA O’Melveny is hiring a Practice Analyst for its Los Angeles office. The role supports the firm’s legal project management efforts, working closely with Practice Managers to ensure efficient delivery of legal services through budget management, outside counsel guideline compliance, pricing, and monitoring of key performance indicators. Salary range: $85,000 – $105,000 (CA/NYC/DC). Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Track performance against budgets, reporting weekly client changes in scope, accruals, and other performance metrics. Assist in preparing work plans and evaluating resources for matter teams. Create financial reports for matter teams on attorney utilization, client and matter profitability. Monitor progress against economic targets and goals, initiating follow‑up as needed. Analyze client performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth. Asses profitability of hourly and alternative fee arrangements. Perform ad‑hoc projects and analyses as directed by the Practice Managers. Support strategic initiatives and day‑to‑day operations of the Litigation and Corporate Departments. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Excellent analytic and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think quickly in a fast‑paced environment and deliver exceptional customer service. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with Finance, Pricing/Strategic Analytics, and Client Development. Project‑management skills; organized, able to multitask, manage time, and work independently. Superior attention to detail and pride in high‑quality deliverables. Motivation to continually learn and improve results in a fast‑paced team. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, and Outlook; database experience a plus. Five years experience in practice management, financial analysis, or a similar discipline, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
