Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector ensures that incoming materials and in-process products comply with design, regulatory, and internal quality standards. This role supports manufacturing by performing detailed inspections, resolving quality issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires strong inspection skills, the ability to work independently within defined timelines, and clear communication with internal teams and external vendors in English.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials to verify compliance with design requirements, product specifications, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Follow established quality system procedures and accurately maintain inspection records and documentation.
• Read and interpret design data, blueprints, GD&T, and product specifications to determine inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
• Conduct in-process inspections on machined parts and assemblies to ensure conformance to quality requirements.
• Verify and promote proper self-checking practices by operators and machinists, providing feedback when nonconformances arise.
• Review supplier data, certificates, and documentation to confirm compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
• Operate and maintain measurement and test equipment, including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and other precision tools.
• Optionally operate and use CMM equipment to perform advanced dimensional inspections as needed.
• Calibrate test and measurement equipment in accordance with internal procedures and maintain calibration records.
• Use ERP systems and office machines to enter, track, and retrieve quality-related data and documentation.
• Maintain proficiency with MS Office applications to prepare reports, records, and communication related to quality activities.
• Communicate effectively in English with internal teams and external vendors to address quality issues and clarify specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow housekeeping standards within inspection and shop areas.
• Assist with other related tasks and support continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and quality system requirements while performing daily duties.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of quality or inspection experience in a machine shop or precision machining environment preferred.
• Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design data, and product specifications.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience performing inspection of machined components and assemblies.
• Ability to operate and care for common inspection equipment and gauges.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications for documentation and reporting.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English with internal teams and vendors.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet established timelines.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for data entry and retrieval in a manufacturing or quality context.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for advanced dimensional inspection (optional but beneficial).
• Background in CNC operating or exposure to CNC machining processes.
• Experience with grinding or other precision machining operations.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement practices within a manufacturing or quality environment.
• Comfort using standard office machines and basic administrative tools in support of quality activities.

Work Environment

Work takes place across warehouse, office, and controlled shop environments that are well lit and climate controlled, with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. The facility features a mix of older and newer machines in a basic but functional precision machining shop. You will regularly use precision measurement tools, inspection equipment, ERP systems, and standard office technology while maintaining a clean and organized work area in accordance with company standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fridley, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
