Teacher - Intervention Support (IST) (2026-2027) Job ID: 5623543 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Apr 02, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Job Details Position Type: Full-Time Job Description SUMMARY: The Intervention Support Teacher uses research‑based programs to help fill gaps in foundational Reading and Math skills. Provides direct intervention and targeted support to students who demonstrate educational challenges and supports the campus Instructional Leadership Team in the area of Reading, English Language Arts and Math.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Strategies Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other professional staff on student intervention needs. Provide students who need academic support with individual and group targeted instruction. Evaluate student achievement and place students in appropriate reading intervention and support services. Meet regularly with the Instructional Leadership Team to plan targeted instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs or as requested by the classroom teacher. Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the educational needs of students, set learning goals and targets, and problem‑solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth in literacy. Provide intensive support for teachers and students; discuss data results with students and parents. Develop and implement lesson plans for in‑person, and if necessary for distance and virtual learning, that fulfill the District’s curriculum program requirements. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of students' learning styles and needs. Student Growth and Development Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Be a positive role model for students. Classroom Management and Organization Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Communication Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Professional Growth and Development Participate in staff development activities that improve job‑related skills. Comply with State, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Other Maintain confidentiality. Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all reports, records, and documents. Pursue professional development activities for self and assigned staff aligned with District goals and initiatives. Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and directives. Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI). Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in English as a Second Language – Required for all Core Subject Teachers. Experience Three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience required. Three (3) years successful classroom teaching in the content field preferred. Experience in curriculum/assessment development preferred. Experience in leadership roles and as a successful Reading & English Language and Math Specialist preferred.SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned. Knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of federal and state guidelines and District policies and procedures regarding education and students. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiation of instruction necessary for effective student‑centered learning environments. Knowledge of content facts, concepts, theories, and principles that are being taught and learned (such as tier instruction). Knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development; up‑to‑date learning strategies and resources. Skill in teaching diverse student populations. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer, phone systems, video/instructional equipment, and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping; pushing/pulling; twisting. Motion: Frequent walking, repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists. Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather). Exposure to noise and computer monitors. Work to be completed on‑site from assigned school or building; no remote work.
