Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with strong ortho, neuro, and general surgery experience for a Level I trauma OR night shift position.

Job Details

• Level I trauma OR serving southwest Virginia with 25 OR suites and 24x7 on-site nursing coverage,
• Patient population includes neonates, adolescents, infants, pediatrics, and geriatrics,
• Services provided include general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine,
• Uses specialized equipment including ROSA, Si and Xi daVinci robots, Stealth, O-Arm, and HIPEC,
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7p-7a, Friday through Sunday,
• No on-call requirement,
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required,
• BLS certification required,
• NBSTSA, NCCT, or military OR Tech certification required,
• License required if applicable,
• Active VA or other state license required, with out-of-state license holders required to obtain VA licensure within a 90-day authorization period,
• Strong general, orthopedic (total joints), and neurosurgery skills required,
• Big belly/crani/ortho trauma experience highly preferred,
• Robotic training highly preferred,

• Position based in a 703-bed acute care teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatrics),
• Magnet-designated facility affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine,
• Facility features a dedicated children's hospital and is a certified Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center,
• First-time travelers accepted,
• Local candidates not accepted; radius requirements apply,
• Previous employees must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler,
• Facility restricts return of travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment, regardless of separation period, with exceptions reviewed case by case,
• All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted upfront,
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
