Make a difference in the lives of visually impaired students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This onsite, contract opportunity offers the chance to support learners across multiple school settings, working with students from 2nd grade through high school. The position begins in late July and continues through late May, providing consistent hours and the flexibility to organize your daily schedule in a way that best serves your students’ individual needs and IEP requirements.

Key Qualifications:

• Current COMS certification through AVCREP
• Valid GaPSC teaching certificate
• Prior experience working with students with visual impairments is preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively across different school sites
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities:

• Assess and provide individualized O&M instruction for visually impaired students in various locations
• Develop and implement lesson plans based on student goals and IEPs
• Coordinate scheduling with school staff and manage time efficiently to cover multiple locations
• Evaluate progress and maintain accurate records of student achievements and needs
• Advocate for student independence and safe travel within school and community environments
