Assistant Controller

Yonkers Contracting Company is seeking a qualified Assistant Controller with 7 years of relevant experience. This role supports the Controller in managing Yonkers Contracting Company’s financial health and project-specific accounting. Responsibilities Project Accounting & Job Costing : Analyze project variances, track project costs against budgets, and ensure accurate job cost allocations for each construction project WIP Reporting : Prepare and review Work-in-Progress schedules, often using the percentage-of-completion method to recognize revenue accurately over time Compliance & Lien Management : Oversee subcontractor and supplier compliance, ensuring receipt and accuracy of Waivers of Lien, Insurance Certificates, and W-9s before processing payments Financial Reporting : Support the month-end and year-end close process, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations Billing & Draws : Manage specialized construction billing, such as AIA billing, and facilitate monthly loan draw requests and funding for capital projects Audit & Tax Support : Serve as a primary contact for external auditors and assist in the preparation of sales tax filings and annual audit workpapers Staff Supervision : Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including managing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll teams Qualifications 7+ years of experience in accounting and finance with experience in construction and development of real estate a plus CPA Certification (required) Strong understanding of construction cost codes, the contract process, percentage of completion, cost allocations related to construction accounting Strong understanding of internal controls for real estate operations and accounting Strong understanding of financial reporting and the significance of each financial statement Strong tax understanding Compensation Medical and Dental Insurance 401(k) Student loan/ Advance Degree Tuition Reimbursement Vehicle Stipend Toll Reimbursement Gas Card Yearly Bonus Opportunities for Advancement About Yonkers Contracting Company, Inc.
