Student Campaigns and the Scripps Fund Coordinator

Claremont, CA Student Campaigns and the Scripps Fund Coordinator Reporting to the Director of Leadership Annual Giving and Scripps Fund, the coordinator will assist in the overall operation of the Scripps Fund, the annual giving program of Scripps College. The coordinator will have a direct responsibility for a portion of the Scripps Fund dollar and participation goals. Responsibilities include management of the student campaign callers, Giving Tuesday campaign and senior class gift programs. The coordinator will partner with members of the Scripps Fund team, Development Services, and Donor Relations and Stewardship to manage the tracking, creation, and distribution of Scripps Fund acknowledgements, anniversary mailings, and pledge reminders. Student Campaigns Program In cooperation with the Director of Annual Giving and Scripps Fund Committee, set the annual student campaigns solicitation calendar and strategy to ensure that the phone program supports overarching Scripps Fund goals and priorities. Work closely with Eternal Relations and Institutional Advancement (ERIA) staff to adapt strategy as needed throughout the year. Manage day-to-day student caller operations, supervising student workers, facilitating daily donor outreach shifts, and communicating regularly with the Director on progress toward goals, strategy, and potential challenges. Recruit, interview, hire, and coordinate employment of all Student Campaigns student workers; manage related timekeeping and payroll for each employee. Facilitate ongoing student training on the essentials of fundraising for the Scripps Fund and best practices in phone solicitation while maintaining Scripps’ relational, donor-centric approach to fundraising. Create an atmosphere of respect, enthusiasm, empowerment, and professionalism amongst Student Campaigns student staff to achieve Student Campaigns goals and enhance our students’ professional development opportunities. Customize Student Campaigns scripts for various constituents, preparing student callers for conversations with all segments of Scripps’ constituency. Work with members of Engagement and Marketing and Communications to ensure that scripts are consistent with other Scripps messaging and that common talking points about the College are scripted in advance of calling. Monitor caller performance, coaching callers to maintain standards and enhance quality of calls. Collaborate with the Development Services department to support a streamlined process for pledge and gift processing and data loads into GiveCampus - Student software. Manage support technologies related to Student Campaigns including: loading and segmenting files in GiveCampus - Student, regularly using reporting tools to produce historic comparisons and analyze segment performance, caller statistics, and pledge status. Research best methods and current trends in the field, implementing strategies for improving the quality and efficiency of the Student Campaigns. Partner with the Stewardship team to implement compelling stewardship videos and messaging to support Student Campaigns outreach. Student Philanthropy Manage student philanthropy campaigns to educate students about the importance of giving back to Scripps. Includes bringing creative direction to the program, recruiting, managing and motivating student volunteers, developing marketing and solicitation materials, and planning events. Lead the senior class students in designating and implement a senior gift. Work to educate seniors about the impact of their gifts and the importance of the Scripps Fund, in support of the goal of retaining at least half the senior gift donors their first year out. Designs creative stewardship plan and leads strategy for solicitation of class in their first year as alums to ensure retention. Build strong relationships between advancement, other Scripps staff/offices and student organizations to ensure we are following proper processes for student employment and payroll as well as building collaborations across campus that can help to educate students on the importance of giving. In support of growing fundraising opportunities with our most recent graduates, research new giving channels and technologies and the feasibility of their integration with existing systems and policies. Scripps Fund Support Coordinate pledge reminder tracking, creation, outreach, ensure timely follow-up to gifts with acknowledgement process. and outcomes in partnership with Development Services, Scripps Fund and Donor Relations colleagues. Facilitate production of anniversary outreach/renewal notices to donors. Participate as a full member of the ERIA team, Scripps Fund team, Philanthropy team, in professional development activities, and in other meetings as appropriate. Actively contribute to the growth and enhancement of the Scripps Fund as a thought partner with Director, Scripps Fund and AVP, Philanthropy. Supports Scripps Fund programs including direct mail, direct email, giving societies, reunion giving, and ensures thorough integration of Student Campaigns and senior class gift programs with overall Scripps Fund programming. Supports recent grad reunion efforts (5 and 10 year reunions) with volunteer recruitment and management and by crafting specialized solicitations to those classes. Records prospect interactions in Raiser’s Edge NXT database, ensuring a high level of accuracy and integrity. Has a nuanced understanding of CRM utilization with ability to analyze complex entity records as needed for troubleshooting, solicitation, and stewardship. In partnership with members of the ERIA team, work to develop a culture of philanthropy, with an emphasis on student, alumnae, and parent participation. Serves as a front-line customer service and fundraising agent, receiving gifts, trouble-shooting problems for donors, connecting donors to appropriate staff and resources as needed. Staff on-campus College events, such as Reunion Weekend, Day of Giving, etc. Work with major gift fundraisers to support their overall solicitation strategy as it pertains to the annual giving strategies for their prospects Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties. Provides exceptional donor service by responding to questions, concerns, and challenging situations with professionalism, empathy, patience, and diplomacy while representing the College's values. Strong organizational and project management skills. Must be efficient in prioritizing work on simultaneous projects and delegating tasks as required for execution. Ability to be flexible and adaptable. Ability to work well in high pressure/touch customer service situations and work well under deadlines while balancing multiple deadlines simultaneously. Ability to work in a team that emphasizes measurable objectives, including mutually agreed upon targets for fundraising goals. Develops student employees through coaching, mentoring, regular feedback, accountability, and professional development while fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture. Knowledge of industry best practices in higher education annual fund or other non-profits. Ability to interact effectively in a higher education setting, and familiarity with the college’s academic and administrative offices and their functions; knowledge of and ability to tap resources within the college. Competence in database utilization and a variety of software programs used to track solicitation efforts and results. Knowledge and experience with social media strategy and trends. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experienced with CRM databases, third party email clients, and other graphic design software preferred. Qualification Standards Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job. Minimum two years of experience in non-profit fundraising, secondary or higher education advancement, and/or a related field development experience, including annual or membership campaigns preferred. Demonstrated experience in engaging academic leaders, faculty, and volunteer partners in the development of meaningful and productive relationships with prospects and donors. Licenses / Certificates None. Other Hours & Classification and Status This is a regular status, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position. The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with seasonal adjustments in line with regular calling hours and student supervision as needed and appropriate for the Student Campaigns program. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department. Hourly rate range: $25.18-$26.50. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Supervisory Responsibility This position supervises the student callers and managers that are employed through the Student Campaigns program.
