Details Surgical ICU (SICU) unit at a cancer hospital and research facility Adult oncology and surgical critical care patient population 13-week assignment on a rotating day/night or night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs Manages patients with hemorrhagic/hypovolemic/septic shock, sepsis, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium Performs external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, massive transfusion protocol, mechanical ventilation, and CRRT Utilizes heated high flow, BiPAP, CPAP, and manages tracheostomy patients Titrates vasopressors and other critical care medications Uses Epic EMR (required) Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of current ICU experience required in the applying specialty within the last 12 months Oncology experience preferred but not required Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management Experienced in blood product administration and IV therapy Proficient in ventilator management and interpretation of ABGs Skilled in CVVHD/CRRT and continuous IV sedation administration Experienced in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management and multisystem organ dysfunction care Experienced with IV insulin protocols and emergency medication administration Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to complex surgical and oncology ICU patients First-time travelers are not accepted for this role Locals accepted at the same rate Two professional references required, at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility Current employees are ineligible for a travel assignment at this health system Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance deadlines American Traveler Job ID P-738690.
