Position Overview Attorney‑Adviser (General) in the Office of Counsel, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Weapons Support, Major Subordinate Command, Richmond, VA. Salary GS‑11: $78,009 – $101,417 GS‑12: $93,499 – $121,551 GS‑13: $111,183 – $144,540 Qualifications Required for grade levels GS‑0905‑11‑12‑13: First professional law degree (LLB or J.D.). Licensed and a member in good standing with the bar of the highest court of a state, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or DC. Certificate of good standing dated within six months of closing date, or a screenshot of current bar status dated similarly, or a signed statement if no date. Additional grade‑specific requirements: To Qualify at the GS‑11 level: One year of professional legal experience. Second professional law degree (LL.M.) with a full academic year of graduate study. Superior law student work or activities such as: Academic standing in the upper third of the graduating class. Work or achievement in official law reviews or journals. Membership in the Order of the Coif, moot court competition, or similar honors. Full‑time or continuous participation in a legal aid program. Significant summer law office clerk experience. Other evidence of clearly superior accomplishment or achievement. To Qualify at the GS‑12 level: Two years of professional legal experience at or equivalent to the GS‑11 level. Second professional law degree (LL.M.) plus one year of professional legal experience at or equivalent to the GS‑11 level. Advanced educational attainments substantially beyond those required for GS‑11, allowing employment at GS‑12 in unusual cases. To Qualify at the GS‑13 level: Professional legal experience in excess of two years commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position. Principal Selection Factors Interest in the practice of Federal acquisition law (contract formation and administration). Analytical ability, including issue identification, legal research, analysis of options, risk analysis, and creative problem solving. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and client relationships, and the ability to interact well with clients and colleagues. Security Clearance This position requires a Secret security clearance.
