Cook Great Western Dining Service at our Jefferson College in Hillsboro MO is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions, move around the kitchen, and multitask. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important. Responsibilities Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.) Prepare, portion, and cook food items for various meal periods or special events Follow basic recipes and production information Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before serving Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Store all food and other items properly Follow all company HACCP and safety policies Skills and Qualifications Proven experience as cook Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.) Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment Ability to follow all sanitation procedures Teamwork skills Strong communication skills We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all qualified individuals. Physical requirements Continuous standing/walking and other mobility up to 8 hours a day Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds Other Information / Schedule / Time Off / Position Summary Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:00pm Time Off: Most major holidays off; approximately 1-month Christmas break furlough period; ~3-month summer furlough period. Position Summary: This role supports daily food service and program operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.
