Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Data Management As a Second Line Risk Advisor – Data Risk Management (Senior Risk Manager) at Capital One, you will be acting as a trusted data risk advisor to divisions (first line business units) and technology partners. You will leverage your deep expertise in data risk management to provide effective challenges, ensuring the company’s data management practices align with both regulatory requirements and enterprise risk appetite. This role is an opportunity to take on key responsibilities in identifying potential data risks, influencing key stakeholders, and assessing data risk across Capital One divisions. As part of the second line of defense, you will engage with product and technology partners, providing insight and influencing the integration of data risk controls into day-to-day operations. You’ll bring a proactive, innovative mindset to designing processes and performing risk assessments to safeguard Capital One’s data management environment. Responsibilities: Trusted Data Risk Advisor: Build strong relationships with business and technology partners to become a trusted data risk advisor, providing insight into data management risks, guidance on technical control needs to manage data, and shaping risk mitigation strategies across the enterprise. Second Line Risk Assessment: As a member of the 2nd line tech and data risk oversight team, conduct thorough risk assessments, data process and control design, and advocate for process excellence to enhance the organization’s data management risk posture. Embed Data Management Practices: Identify opportunities to embed data risk management best practices within business operations, influencing stakeholders to adopt proactive risk management measures through technical and data driven solutions. Influence Technology & Data Maturity Roadmaps: Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to ensure data management controls are incorporated into technical product roadmaps, driving effective risk mitigation in new and existing platforms. Gap Assessments & Recommendations: Perform gap assessments to identify weaknesses in current data management controls/processes, technical designs, architecture data flow diagrams, and propose actionable recommendations to drive organizational transformation and compliance. Communication Excellence: Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate data management risks, communicate progress against risk mitigation efforts, and influence decision-making at senior levels. Metadata, Data Quality, and Governance: Partner across divisions and functions on initiatives related to metadata management, data quality, data governance, and data stewardship to ensure risks are mitigated and compliance is maintained. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or military experience At least 5 years of experience in a data management or data governance At least 5 years of experience in risk management within a FinTech, Financial Services, or Technology organization Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics 3 years of experience leading cross-functional teams 6 years of experience overseeing metadata management and data quality At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Chicago, IL: $161,500 – $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager McLean, VA: $177,700 – $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager New York, NY: $193,800 – $221,200 for Sr. Risk Manager Richmond, VA: $161,500 – $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager Riverwoods, IL: $161,500 – $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
