Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: - Previous travel experience required; no first-time travelers. - Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. - Heparin gtt experience required.

Special Requests: - Tries to meet scheduling requests; will block if it is possible with staffing.

Unit Details: - Nurse-patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6. - Common diagnoses/patient population: stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience, some medical overflow. - Titrates heparin drips based on PTT. - Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7; charge nurse takes an assignment only if short staffed and nurses would be above ratios. - House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Phillips monitors. - High flow for stable COVID only (very rare).

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend on both shifts. - Every other holiday. - No call.

Floating Requirements: - Float in rotation with rest of staff. General unit traveler floats to general unit floor and takes a full team. If floated outside of the general unit in case of urgent need, would only do skills competent to do and be assigned with a nurse trained for that particular unit.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
