Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: - Post-op care of patients.

Special Requests: - Block scheduling will be considered but must be approved at time of contract.

Unit Details: - Nurse: Patient Ratios: 4-5/RN days, 5-6/RN nights. Ratios may go up to 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights if absolutely needed. - Post-op surgical, trauma, and overflow medical patients; dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs, central lines, and TPN. - No titratable drips required; heparin only. - No vents. CPAP and high flow. RT manages nebs; RNs manage inhalers and can place patients on CPAP. - Some patients are on telemetry; Phillips monitor. Bedside RNs do not read strips; there is a central station for monitor techs.

Shift & Scheduling: - Travelers do not self-schedule. - Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are the weekend shift. - Rotates every other holiday. - No call.

Floating Requirements: - Travelers are the first to float and will float to units with the same level of experience. If an ICU RN floats to a general unit, they take a team of 3 patients.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
