With over $2.8 billion in annual sales and a commitment to its workforce, Kokosing is the winning team.Job Description:Position SummaryThe Solar Team Safety Manager is a field-based role supporting multiple projects across the Michigan and Ohio regions. Projects include a mix of residential roof-mounted modules, light commercial ground and roof systems, and commercial ground-mounted solar installations. This role serves as a coach, auditor, incident reviewer, and support resource for the project team. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of fall protection, electrical safety, ladders, piling, and trenching equipment, and bring strong communication skills, time management, and a self-driven work ethic to the role.ResponsibilitiesTrainingAssess and determine training needs across projects; verify current training status and arrange sessions accordinglyTrack training expirations and coordinate retraining as neededConduct training sessions including work instructions and competent person training across various subjectsDevelop and update training presentations and hands-on training materialsCompliancePerform daily job site inspections using Smart Safety Pro in coordination with superintendents and foremenAssign corrective actions and follow up to ensure closureProvide guidance on best practices, new product implementation, and field trialsSet the example on site, hold the line on safety standards, and deliver coaching where neededCultureTrain and implement the SafeStart behavior-based safety program; incorporate SafeStart into daily conversations and periodically assess foremen and above on usageBring the solar team up to speed on Safety 24/7 skills including MAP, BIG 3, conversations, and all remaining componentsRestart and lead team safety committee meetings; set agendas, expectations, and drive participation and accountabilityQualificationsBackground in construction safety; solar or renewable energy experience strongly preferredThorough knowledge of fall protection, electrical safety (NFPA 70E), ladder safety, piling, and trenching equipmentFamiliarity with OSHA, DOT, and EPA standardsExperience with incident investigation and root cause analysisStrong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence field personnelAbility to work independently in a high-production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends as needed)Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required; must be comfortable with site-to-site travel and overnight staysCertificationsRequired: CPR / First Aid / AED, valid driver's licensePreferred: OSHA 30, OSHA 500 Trainer, NFPA 70E, additional solar or electrical safety certifications a plusBenefits:Kokosing offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, life, and disability insurance, paid time off and a 401K planKokosing is an equal employment opportunity/affirmative action federal and state contractor.
