Senior Accountant
Medical Indicators
SUMMARY : Oversees accounting and reporting, general ledger reconciliation, and accounting policy development; computes and prepares data for journal entries, general ledger, and related financial statements; oversees all accounting functions. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Hands on responsibility and oversight of key accounting functions including financial closing, financial reporting, revenue recognition, bank transactions, inventory accounting, accounts receivable and payable
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and cash-flow projections
- Maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Process, monitor, review, measure, track, validate, research, analyze and report on customer activity/utilization reported by contract customers, wholesalers, and others using chargebacks, rebates and sales data
- Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization
- Provide financial analyses for decision-making regarding pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts; participate in business planning and analyses
- Serve as the back up for processing and monitoring distributor rebates
- Coordination of annual audit and preparation of annual tax documents
- Lead business-related projects and duties as needed
- College degree in Accounting required, MBA preferred
- Strong understanding of the full accounting function, balance sheet, cash flow P&L and how they all tie together
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required
- High proficiency all Microsoft Office products. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required; Proficiency with accounting software required
- Experience with financial analysis preferred
- Experience with standard cost accounting preferred. Experience analyzing manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
