Position Overview Paralegal – Department of Law, Criminal Division – Kodiak. This position is open to Alaska residents only. The role supports victims and witnesses, assists with case updates, and collaborates with law enforcement, court staff, and victim advocates. Responsibilities Assist community members affected by crime, guiding victims and witnesses through their rights and the criminal justice process. Keep victims and witnesses updated on case progress and provide information about available resources. Collaborate with prosecution team and external agencies to resolve legal issues. Qualifications / Competencies Information Management – Identify needs, gather, organize, and maintain information. Decision Making – Make sound, well‑informed decisions; act decisively in uncertain situations. Attention to Detail – Thorough and conscientious in all tasks. Interpersonal Skills – Demonstrate courtesy, empathy, and cultural sensitivity; handle difficult or distressed individuals. Reading – Understand and apply written material, including legal documents and technical instructions. Written Communication – Produce clear, concise, and persuasive written content. Required: Proven competency in the above areas; Alaska resident; on‑the‑job training for duties; may need to obtain a Notary Public and pass a criminal background check.
