Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown (PCU)

Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5, which may include a mix of PCU and medical-surgical patients
• Manage and titrate cardiac and critical drips including amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, bradycardia, VT, sepsis, respiratory failure, and post-surgical recovery, including post-cath sheath pulls
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips independently; a dedicated monitor tech is also available on the unit
• Manage patients on BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and stable trach as needed
• Float to ICU (within patient population) and medical-surgical floors as unit needs require

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with current PCU, Stepdown, or Telemetry experience — no first-time travelers; at least one successfully completed travel assignment required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Demonstrated experience managing all titratable drips listed above
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with TAVR and CABG post-operative patient care
• Strong cardiac assessment skills with comfort managing a high-acuity cardiac patient population
• Experience with Watchman procedure recovery and pacer patients
