Assistant Branch Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Branch Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Santa Monica, CA. This role is ideal for a banking professional with strong branch operations experience, supervisory ability, and a commitment to delivering an excellent client experience.

The Assistant Branch Manager supports daily branch operations, staff development, compliance, customer service, and business growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities

- Support the Branch Manager in overseeing daily branch operations, staffing coverage, compliance, service quality, and branch performance.
- Provide leadership, training, coaching, and operational guidance to branch staff, including Client Service Representatives and New Account staff.
- Ensure adherence to bank policies, procedures, security standards, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
- Handle teller duties, new account openings, account maintenance, transaction approvals, exception reports, overdraft reports, and other operational documentation.
- Resolve escalated client service concerns, account disputes, and branch service issues with professionalism, tact, and sound judgment.
- Assist with sales programs, client retention, business development, promotional activities, and deposit growth initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation range: $24.00 to $28.00 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: Santa Monica, CA.
- Minimum of 10 CRA volunteer hours per year, typically scheduled during business hours.
- CRA volunteer time is compensable, and mileage is reimbursed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Oversee branch operations, staff scheduling, transaction approvals, compliance documentation, and daily reporting.
- Coach, train, and supervise branch employees to support service excellence, operational accuracy, and professional development.
- Support client relationship management, business development, deposit growth, and customer retention activities.
- Manage escalated customer matters and branch responsibilities in partnership with, or in the absence of, the Branch Manager.

- 6 to 10 years of banking, branch operations, or related financial services experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of banking experience required for specialist-level consideration.
- Minimum of 8 years of banking experience required for officer-level consideration.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of supervisory experience, depending on level.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of banking operations experience, depending on level.
- Strong knowledge of branch banking operations, retail banking products, new accounts, teller functions, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software systems.
- Ability to review new account openings, file maintenance, NSF items, large transaction reports, and operational exceptions accurately.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and sound judgment in a regulated banking environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Notary Public preferred.
- Experience supporting branch sales programs, outside calling, business customer prospecting, and deposit growth initiatives.
- Experience managing up to 5 branch employees in a retail banking or financial services environment.
