Familiar with production processes. Relies on skills, knowledge, and experience to accomplish all assigned tasks. Reviews all activities looking to eliminate waste and continuously improve processes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all equipment in a steel mill environment.Experience and capable of working with heavy industry equipment and overhead cranes.Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and perform work from schematics, technical specifications, drawings, and sketches. Experience with PLC systems and variable frequency drives (VFD) a plus.Shift work, weekends, callouts and overtime a must.Perform all other duties as directed by supervisor or management representative within safety guidelines.Performs work in accordance with the defined Quality system and share responsibility for Quality.The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.QualificationsMinimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Completion of maintenance mechanical course, Associate Degree, or equivalent experience is required. At least 3- 5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial mechanical experience.Skills and Abilities:Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.Work Environment:Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
