Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) – Carbondale, Illinois. 13-week travel assignment starting 09/07/2026. Weekly pay of $2,019-$2,074 per week with guaranteed 36 hours. Night shift in a hospital setting, caring for a wide variety of adult patients with a focus on stroke care.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult medical-surgical patients; monitor neurological status for stroke patients; administer medications and treatments per physician orders; update and execute individualized care plans; document accurately in the electronic health record.
- Manage a mix of post-operative patients (amputations, drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes); oversee IV therapy including heparin drips; perform wound care; monitor vital signs and clinical changes.
- Monitor for altered mental status, CIWA protocols, acute kidney injury, dialysis needs, and COPD exacerbations; escalate evolving conditions to the team and physicians promptly.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, discharge planning, and patient/family education; contribute to care rounds and safety initiatives.
- Maintain infection prevention, patient safety, and falls mitigation strategies; participate in handoffs, shifts, and code response per hospital policy.

Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS certification.
- Stroke certification (required) and ability to work three 12-hour night shifts; every other weekend and every other holiday.
- NHISS certification required.
- Experience in medical-surgical, progressive care, or step-down environments; capable of managing diverse post-operative and medical conditions.
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting.
