Job Title

RN – Step Down (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3 x 12-hour shifts per week | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on a high-acuity, cardiac-focused PCU/Step Down unit managing complex patient populations including heart failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, LVAD, and heart transplant patients
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers (no remediation opportunities)
• Administer and titrate common cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Perform and assist with procedures such as right/left heart catheterizations, sheath removal/management, TR band management, groin site management, cardioversions, and chest tube care
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 in a high-acuity environment with frequent admissions, discharges, and significant procedural volume
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers are not eligible for the Cardiac Monitor Tech float role

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Georgia (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin) and telemetry interpretation
• Must achieve a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Chest tube experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant experience (training may be available)
• LVAD experience (training may be available)
• Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac PCU or step down setting
