This position is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations while ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, and execution across all culinary offerings. **The Sous Chef will provide hands-on leadership, mentor and develop culinary team members, and maintain the elevated standards expected within a luxury hospitality environment.** The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive culinary knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen while delivering exceptional guest experiences through culinary excellence.## **Essential Responsibilities*** **Assist the Executive Chef** in overseeing daily culinary operations, ensuring efficient kitchen performance and exceptional food quality* Supervise, coach, and develop line cooks, prep cooks, and stewards while fostering a collaborative, professional, and positive work environment* **Lead kitchen operations** during assigned shifts, ensuring all menu items are prepared according to established recipes, presentation standards, and steakhouse specifications* Monitor food quality, consistency, portion control, and plating standards to ensure an exceptional dining experience* **Oversee production and execution** across all kitchen stations, providing support wherever needed to ensure successful service* Assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, performance coaching, and daily supervision of culinary team members* Support menu development, recipe execution, seasonal features, and culinary innovation in collaboration with the Executive Chef* Maintain inventory levels, assist with product ordering, receiving, and inventory rotation while minimizing waste and controlling food costs* Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations, maintaining a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen* Monitor equipment performance and communicate maintenance needs promptly to leadership* **Assist with banquet, private dining, catering, and specialty culinary events while maintaining consistent execution and presentation standards*** **Uphold standards aligned** with luxury hospitality, Forbes Travel Guide service culture, and elevated guest expectations* Maintain composure and lead effectively during **high-volume dinner services while ensuring timely execution and exceptional attention to detail*** Serve as the acting kitchen leader in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring continuity of operations and adherence to established standards* Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement throughout the culinary department## Qualifications* **Minimum of 3 years of progressive culinary experience**, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role; upscale steakhouse, fine dining, or luxury hotel experience preferred* Strong knowledge of classic cooking techniques, premium steak and seafood preparation, knife skills, and proper food handling procedures* **Proven ability to lead and motivate** culinary teams in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment* Experience with inventory management, ordering, food cost controls, and kitchen organization preferred* **Strong understanding of kitchen safety, sanitation, and health department regulations*** Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills* Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays* Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds* Culinary school education preferred but not required with relevant experience* ServSafe Manager Certification preferred or ability to obtain certification## **Preferred Attributes*** Passion for culinary excellence and luxury hospitality* Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members* Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail* Professional appearance and demeanor* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high-volume service* Commitment to teamwork, consistency, and guest satisfaction* Desire to continuously improve culinary operations and elevate the guest experience## **Benefits & Opportunities*** Competitive compensation* Opportunities for culinary growth and advancement* Luxury hospitality work environment* Employee dining and hotel benefits where applicable* Professional development and training opportunitiesOur team is dedicated to creating memorable dining experiences through exceptional cuisine, refined presentation, and elevated hospitality standards.
