Job Summary The Payroll/HR Specialist serves as a dedicated payroll expert responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients. This role goes beyond processing by acting as a trusted advisor on payroll operations, compliance, and best practices. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in payroll regulations, including multi-state taxation, and thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent experience is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Manage full‑cycle payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, providing guidance on payroll, tax, and compliance‑related matters. Review and validate payroll data including earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits. Handle complex payroll scenarios including garnishments, tax notices, and corrections. Maintain and update employee and company records within the payroll system. Support onboarding of new clients, including system setup and user training within the isolved platform. Identify process improvements and recommend best practices to enhance efficiency and client outcomes. Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and audit standards. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain high service standards. Qualifications 2+ years of payroll experience; multi‑client or service bureau experience strongly preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred, or actively pursuing certification. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Experience handling garnishments, tax filings, and compliance‑related inquiries. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in a deadline‑driven environment. Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to clients. Experience with payroll systems (isolved experience is a plus). Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
