Job Summary:

Certerra South as an immediate opening for a full-time Field (level 1) Construction Materials Testing (CMT) technician in Houston, Texas. The position is best suited for someone interested in working in a fast-paced consultant environment, does not mind some travel, and capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative team.

Duties:

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Maintaining required certifications
• Coordinating with clients and Certerra/Insight Group engineering and professional state.
• Travel to client facilities as needed
• Report writing and computer skills
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Education/Qualifications:

• A strong safety focus and attention to detail 
• Excellent plan reading skills 
• A demonstrated math and technical aptitude 
• Ability to pass an extensive background and drug screen
• Flexibility to work extended or non-traditional hours as needed 
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills 
• State DOT certifications, and/or NICET certifications
• ICC Concrete and Soils Certifications preferred or must be willing to get within 1 year 
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification - must be willing to get within 1 year 
• 2-5+ years of construction materials testing experience (preferred)  
• A High School diploma or equivalent 
• A valid driver’s license 
• Training Available

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking as needed during safety inspections and training sessions. 
• The ability to lift 50-75 pounds 
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
