The Division of Bioethics and Palliative Care, in the Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington, is seeking a candidate to join our faculty as full time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, on the Clinical Practice track. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The anticipated start date is Fall/Winter 2025.

The successful applicant will join a well-established combined Division of Bioethics and Palliative Care and a skilled and experienced multidisciplinary clinical palliative care team. The Division and clinical team value the excellence that comes from diversity, and work hard to foster a climate of inclusion and collaboration.

Particular strengths of the program include an outstanding fellowship program, a very longstanding and well-respected clinical program, and a close relationship with an active research program through the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Palliative Care.

Clinical responsibilities will include providing in-patient and outpatient palliative care services and call. Additional administrative opportunities may be available for those with appropriate experience and expertise. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, scholarship and service.

The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice $14,691 - $22,037 per month ($176,301 - $264,451 annually), Associate Professor of Clinical Practice $16,479 - $24,719 per month ($197,754 - $296,632 annually), Professor of Clinical Practice $19,568 - $29,353 per month ($234,826 - $352,240 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children's University Medical Group practice plan.

Qualifications

• An MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) degree; an MD/PhD combined (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.
• US Board certification or US Board eligibility (or foreign equivalent) in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
• Completion of a pediatric residency.
• Completion of subspecialty fellowship training program in Hospice and Palliative Medicine prior to Board certification
• Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington
• In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
