The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor with an anticipated start date of January 2027. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. This position will be on the Full-Time Clinical Faculty (FTCF) track. Faculty on the FTCF track hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (JulyJune), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position at the following ranks will be: Clinical Assistant Professor ($22,000$24,250 per month), Clinical Associate Professor ($ 24,250$29,250 per month), Clinical Professor ($ 29,250$33,500 per month), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

These ranges are inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include a clinical coverage overload (CCO), temporary pay supplement (TPS), or semi-annual additional compensation (SAAC), including additional compensation of $500 per night shift for any work as a member of the night attending (nocturnist) team.

The successful candidate will provide care primarily in the outpatient setting with additional opportunities for inpatient care based on interests and division clinical needs. The candidate will focus on management of patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD), including diagnosis, complex medical decision making to guide treatments, and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Patient care efforts will occur at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Montlake and Northwest campuses, and Harborview Medical Center (HMC). Teaching responsibilities will include clinical bedside teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Our Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is a collaborative and multidisciplinary community of over 200 faculty, fellows, researchers, advanced practice providers, and staff across five major clinical sites in Seattle, including UW Medical CenterMontlake, Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical CenterNorthwest, the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. We are home to several highly active centers, including the Center for Lung Biology, the Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence, the Center for Interstitial Lung Disease, and the Sepsis Center for Research Excellence (SCORE-UW). Our mission integrates excellence in clinical care, research, and education, spanning foundational science through translational, clinical, and population health research, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and the development of physician-scientists through our long-standing NIH T32 training program. Our Division faculty excels in research productivity and impact spanning high-impact journals across the fields of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. In 2024 alone, our T32 mentors secured approximately $46 million in research funding and contributed to over 300 publications.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

1. MD/DO degree or foreign equivalent
2. Board certified or eligibility (or foreign equivalent) in pulmonary and critical care medicine
3. Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington
4. To be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
