Systems Administrator The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and supporting the organization's Microsoft 365 collaboration suite, identity and access management through Microsoft Entra ID, and core Windows infrastructure. This role ensures secure, efficient, and reliable IT operations by optimizing collaboration tools, and enforcing compliance and security standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality support and solutions across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities: Microsoft 365 / O365 Platform Administration Serve as primary administrator for Microsoft 365 collaboration tools including SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, and Exchange Online. Design, configure, and maintain collaboration environments to optimize productivity and compliance. SharePoint Administration Serve as primary administrator for SharePoint Online, including site creation, architecture planning, permissions management, and security configurations. Build and maintain document libraries, content types, retention policies, and workflows. Work with departments to design and improve SharePoint sites for collaboration and document management. Monitor and optimize SharePoint storage, usage, and performance across teams. Assist with SharePoint Online migrations, restructuring, and consolidation projects. OneDrive Administration Oversee OneDrive for Business configuration, access controls, sync management, and sharing policies. Troubleshoot OneDrive sync issues, file conflict problems, and permission errors. Ensure compliance with organizational storage and retention standard operating procedures. Teams & Exchange Online Administer Teams channels, permissions, policies, and voice features. Manage Exchange Online mail flow, shared mailboxes, distribution groups, and retention policies. Support O365 compliance features including DLP, auditing, and eDiscovery. Microsoft Entra ID & Identity Management Manage Microsoft Entra ID, including user provisioning, conditional access, MFA enforcement, and group management. Apply appropriate role-based access controls and ensure identity security policies are consistently enforced. Windows Infrastructure Administration Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file/print services. Support and manage Windows 11 endpoints, ensuring updates, patches, and policies are consistently deployed. Troubleshoot server and workstation issues, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution. Level 2 Service Desk & Support Serve as the Tier II escalation point for issues related to: MS365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online) Windows Servers Windows endpoints Microsoft Entra ID account, identity, and access issues Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent resolutions. Document solutions, develop internal knowledge base articles, and support Tier I technicians as needed. Provide clear and effective communication during incident response and troubleshooting. Security, Compliance & Monitoring Support endpoint security, patching, and vulnerability remediation. Administer system monitoring tools and maintain event logging and alerts. Projects & Continuous Improvement Participate in mid-sized IT projects, such as O365 tenant migrations, Windows Server upgrades, SharePoint builds, and endpoint deployments. Refine IT documentation, system standards, and operational procedures. Identify opportunities for automation using PowerShell or O365 administrative tools. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise: 3–6 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or similar mid-level IT role. Hands-on experience with: SharePoint Online administration (sites, permissions, architecture) OneDrive administration and troubleshooting Office 365 admin center, Teams administration Windows Server and Active Directory Entra identity management (multi-tenant preferred) Experience with hybrid identity configurations such as Azure AD Connect and password sync. Proficiency with PowerShell for automation and administration tasks. Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals including DNS, VPN, and VLANs. Experience with Intune, Autopilot, or other MDM/endpoint management tools. Familiarity with VMware virtualization. Prior experience supporting a 100–300 user environment. Certificates and Licenses: Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, M365 Administrator, Security+, etc.) are a plus.
