Job DescriptionWho will you be working with & how will you make a difference?Wabtec Railway Electronics develops state-of-the-art products for the railroad industry such as event/video recorders, air brake and train control equipment. This division of Wabtec Corporation is located in Germantown, MD which is situated minutes from two major metropolitan areas. This senior mechanical engineering position will provide you with the opportunity to develop innovative solutions and products benefiting both freight and transit railroads throughout the world. Work with a talented team of mechanical, electrical, software, system and test engineers to apply and further develop your mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills.What do we want to know about you?Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 8 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a strong background in product design and developmentProficient in 3D modeling and Creo or SolidWorksProven expertise in designing mechanical systems for high-vibration environments, such as those found in transportation applicationsExperience in solving complex technical and quality problemsStrong background in electronics packaging and thermal managementExcellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentPreferred qualifications:Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniquesWhat will your typical day look like? Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniquesPerform a complete lifecycle product development by leading the design, estimations, analysis, development and validation of complex mechanical systems and componentsUtilize 3D modeling and simulation tools to optimize product designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturabilityCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software componentsWork with suppliers on product development activities and assisting with the resolution of component quality challengesProvide sound engineering estimates of labor and material expenses for new projectsEvaluate 3rd party mechanical and electromechanical products by generating validation plans and overseeing testingEnsure designs meet all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental requirementsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineersContinuously research and implement the latest mechanical engineering best practices and technologiesRelocation assistance may be provided if eligibility requirements are met.#LI-AM1Additional InformationOur job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $91100-129800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
