Responsibilities:

• Draw blood samples from patients using venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric techniques, ensuring safety and comfort for diverse patient populations.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, verifying proper labeling and documentation to maintain sample integrity and traceability.
• Confirm patient identity accurately by verifying demographic information and obtaining patient signatures when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment in accordance with established safety protocols and policies.
• Document all specimen collection activities meticulously, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns to foster a positive experience.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and support staff to ensure smooth daily operations, demonstrating leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence.
• Adapt to various work settings, including patient service centers, clinical offices, or mobile collection sites, as needed.
• Follow all policies regarding patient confidentiality, safety, and dress code, promoting a positive image of the healthcare facility.

Required Skills:

• Proven proficiency in venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric blood collection methods.
• Strong understanding of patient identification procedures, specimen labeling, and documentation standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to put patients at ease and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in high-volume settings.
• Familiarity with electronic data entry and health records management.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and quality standards.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours, to meet staffing needs.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required if traveling between collection sites.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant, Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), or Paramedic license.
• Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.
• Knowledge of special collection techniques for pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 13 years of professional phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Previous experience in a clinical or retail healthcare setting is highly advantageous.
• Prior exposure to data entry and electronic health records systems.

Other Requirements:

• Must hold current phlebotomy certification (preferred).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, covering multiple locations with minimal notice.
• Ability to lift and handle laboratory supplies and specimens, complying with safety standards.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform blood draws comfortably.
