Product Development EngineerJob Category: EngineeringRequisition Number: PRODU002697Location: Battle Creek, MIDescriptionResponsibilities:Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of product developmentGathers and comprehends customer requirements by supporting the team prior to and during customer interface meetings; researching and recording historical and benchmark information regarding the customer's needs; creating and maintaining a record of potential risks with product developmentTranslates customer specifications into product requirements; interfaces with customer representatives to ensure their desired features and performance levels are properly comprehended in product specificationsCompiles reports and completes documentation to track and facilitate the product development process; obtains an approved product number for the current product development cycleParticipates in various technical reviews throughout the product development cycle; prepares technical presentations to various stakeholdersDevelop generic material bill of materials and bill of process for an approved productCompiles reports and completes documentation to track and facilitate the product development processMaintain a safe working environment and actively participate in 5S activitiesBenchmarking - Identify targets and perform vehicle teardowns to identify opportunities. Prepare findings and present internally and to the customer. Study competitor parts, technology, unique solutions, or industry trendsDevelopment Projects - Lead multiple projects simultaneously. Develop product alternatives to improve cost, quality and technology.
