Registered Nurse – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Varied 12-hour shifts (Monday–Friday), with start times ranging from 0500 to 0930; on-call rotation required for weeknights and weekends

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct post-anesthesia nursing care to patients in a Main PACU setting with 8 PACU bays and 7 pre-op bays
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips as part of ongoing patient assessment
• Manage patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, caring for a diverse surgical population including total joint, general, robotic (daVinci), neuro, and urology cases
• Participate in on-call rotation, including approximately 5 weekend call shifts and 8 weeknight call shifts per quarter
• Float between Main PACU and outpatient surgery center as operationally needed
• Rotate holiday coverage with core staff and support ICU-level patients in PACU when inpatient beds are unavailable

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications
• Demonstrated acute post-anesthesia recovery experience
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Must successfully complete a competency exam prior to assignment start, achieving a minimum score of 80% within two attempts

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for ICU-level patients in a PACU or step-down environment
• Familiarity with robotic-assisted surgical cases and neuro or urology patient populations
• Prior charge nurse experience
