The Opportunity

\n

Access Consulting Group is conducting a confidential executive search for a  Vice President of Operations – Commercial Drywall on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing construction services firm based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

\n

With approximately $100 million in annual revenue, a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic region, and operations in multiple U.S. markets, the company is seeking an experienced construction executive to lead its drywall and interior systems division.  This is a leadership opportunity for a professional with deep commercial drywall expertise, strong organizational and management skills, and a proven ability to mentor teams, strengthen operations, and build lasting relationships with general contractors.

The Role

\n

Reporting directly to the  COO , the Vice President of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership for the company's drywall and interior systems division.  This individual will oversee an established team of approximately 4–5 direct reports, with responsibility for project execution, operational performance, team development, and continued growth across multiple markets.  The ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic leader who understands the complexities of commercial drywall construction and can effectively manage people and drive results.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Provide overall leadership and direction for commercial drywall and interior systems operations.
\n
• Oversee project execution, scheduling, manpower planning, labor productivity, and resource allocation.
\n
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
\n
• Establish effective operational processes, performance standards, and accountability across the division.
\n
• Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to support successful project planning and execution.
\n
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, operational improvements, and continued growth across multiple markets.
\n
• Effectively lead and manage team members 
\n
• Provide guidance on staffing, project challenges, and operational priorities.
\n
• Oversee divisional financial performance, including project profitability, budgets, forecasting, and cost controls.
\n
• Monitor labor productivity, project performance, and key operational metrics.
\n
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors and industry partners.
\n
• Serve as a senior representative of the company, strengthening its reputation for quality, reliability, and performance.
\n
• Collaborate with executive leadership to support business development, client retention, and strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

\n

Experience & Technical Expertise

\n

\n
• Minimum 10 years of construction industry experience , with extensive expertise in commercial drywall and interior systems.
\n
• Proven operations leadership experience within a commercial drywall, interior systems, or specialty subcontracting organization.
\n
• Strong knowledge of drywall construction, metal stud framing, interior partitions, and related systems.
\n
• Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, leading teams, and driving operational and financial performance.
\n
• Strong understanding of construction scheduling, labor management, budgeting, and cost controls.
\n
• Established experience working with general contractors and building strong client relationships.
\n
• Experience overseeing operations across multiple locations or markets is preferred.
\n
• Strong leadership skills with a genuine ability to mentor, motivate, and develop people.
\n
• Highly organized, with excellent management skills and the ability to establish structure and accountability.
\n
• Collaborative, professional, and comfortable working in a growing, entrepreneurial construction environment.

• Base Salary: $175,000 – $225,000, commensurate with experience plus bonus
\n
