About the Position

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, NR Must-Have: Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. EPIC experience, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring device). Experience with management of critical care vasoactive drip titration. Management of invasive lines: ART lines/CVP. Aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes. Ventilator and trach management, HOFV management. Oral/nasal suctioning, g-tube/j-tube management, feeding tubes. Chest tubes, epidurals, PCA, sedation and analgesic drip management. Foley insertion and management. Alaris and Medfusion pump management. Bedside procedures with providers. Discharge skills, CRRT experience. Baby side of ECMO experience. Description: RN position in Neonatal ICU. The facility has 247 licensed beds. It is a Level 1 pediatric trauma center and a teaching hospital. Unit information includes 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Common patient types and diagnoses include respiratory distress syndrome, congenital heart defects, seizures, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. Support within the department includes unit secretary on every shift, charge nurse available 24/7, and resource nurse available around the clock. Intensivists and residents are available in-house, along with centralized and bedside telemonitoring. Unit-based educators and clinical supervisors support staff development. Technology and equipment include an electronic medical record system, infusion pumps, and specialized monitoring equipment. Neonatal PCU may require floating to other similar units as needed. Scheduling involves weekend rotation with a requirement to work two Fridays and two Mondays, plus every other weekend. Travelers are expected to work holidays as scheduled and may have to extend contracts to meet unit needs. The dress code consists of navy scrubs with specific guidelines on attire and jewelry. The unit culture promotes teamwork, accountability, respect, and flexibility.
