Company Overview Highgate Hotels is a leading real estate investment and hospitality management company with more than $15 billion in assets under management and a portfolio of over 400 hotels worldwide. Overview The General Manager of Highgate Hotels is responsible for driving profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee development while upholding the integrity of the organization. Responsibilities Tour operating departments daily and coordinate adjustments with department heads. Conduct weekly staff meetings and training sessions, reviewing sales and operations. Meet all financial review dates and corporate-directed programs punctually. Hold monthly financial reviews with all department managers and supervisors. Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and adhere to standard accounting procedures. Develop managers for future advancement through competency and corporate training programs. Collaborate with the Director of Banquets to assess prospective and existing events. Support Club Membership initiatives and recruitment efforts. Adhere to company policies and procedures, training new managers on compliance. Assist with the budget process as required. Ensure service standards training in each department, including weekly training as per company standards. Create a positive, team‑oriented environment focused on guests through employee development. Co‑inspect the property with the Director of Operations and Property Engineer. Process invoices daily using the A/P process. Submit required financial documentation to the corporate office monthly in compliance with the accounting calendar. Maintain cleanliness and property maintenance through inspections and preventive programs. Ensure staff interact with guests courteously and efficiently. Forecast monthly financial positions, estimating revenues and expenses and generating accurate re‑forecasts. Conduct management interviews and enforce hiring procedures per company SOPs. Interview all final candidates for vacant management positions before extending offers. Coach, counsel, and discipline management personnel following company SOPs. Perform additional duties as requested by senior leadership. Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees per company SOPs. Engage members in recruitment and maintenance of member relationships. Remain present in public areas during peak times to greet members. Follow safety procedures for the club’s safe and conduct monthly audits. Lead monthly credit meetings and contribute to credit and collection policies. Complete required corporate training modules and certify others to train. Ensure all scheduled meetings occur on the property. Qualifications At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or 4‑year college degree with 4–5 years related experience; or 2‑year college degree with 5–6 years related experience. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally or 10 pounds frequently. Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all employee levels and guests. Listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests. Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Approach all encounters with guests and employees respectfully and service‑oriented. Attend all required hotel meetings and training sessions. Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with scheduling standards. Maintain high personal appearance and grooming standards, including wearing nametags. Comply with safety and operational regulations to encourage efficient operations. Handle problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them. Interpret and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to meet objectives.
