Communications Officer I

Job Summary Participate in communications efforts designed to market a campus unit's products and/or services to target audiences. This position develops communications materials in the form of graphics, brochures, fact sheets, articles for publication, logo designs and/or websites. This position will interact on a consistent basis with unit management and personnel, customers and vendors. Responsibilities Conduct and utilize market research as necessary to recommend appropriate marketing communications strategies Develop content and oversee the design and production process for print collateral Consult with academic and/or administrative personnel to acquire the necessary information about the subject Confer with Institute Communications and Marketing to ensure that Institute graphic and style standards are followed in all material Obtain cost estimates, collaborate in the selection of illustrators and printers and approve their work, as required Perform other duties as assigned Additional Responsibilities Create original social media content and provide analytics reports across social platforms Conduct website development and maintenance Required Qualifications Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Required Qualifications: This job requires exposure to higher than average noise levels, handling objects up to 100 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods of time. Required Experience: Two to four years of job related experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience creating engaging and effective social media content across platforms to increase brand awareness. Experience with WordPress websites and SEO techniques to drive traffic. Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud apps (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, etc.) to design marketing collateral and edit video/photography assets. Photography and videography experience, including post-production tasks for print publications, websites, and social media platforms. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Skills in writing and communication, creativity and ability to incorporate a variety of resources and tools to develop marketing materials. Ability to understand complex and/or highly technical ideas and programs and communicate them in lay terms. Organizational and communication skills as well as use of office and specialized computer applications. Other Information This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position will not travel. This position does require and maintain a security clearance. Location: Atlanta, GA. Salary Grade A7.
