Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) / Hematology Oncology

Location: Ohio
Shift: 3×12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) or Rotating Days/Nights
Contract Length: 16 Weeks (112 Days)

 

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)/Hematology Oncology Registered Nurse to join a mixed-acuity Progressive Care/Medical-Surgical Oncology unit. The RN will provide specialized care for patients undergoing stem cell transplants, CAR-T therapy, chemotherapy, and treatment for complex hematologic malignancies. Candidates must have recent inpatient Hematology/Oncology and Medical-Surgical experience, along with chemotherapy certification.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematology/Oncology patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, IV medications, and supportive therapies.
• Care for patients undergoing Autologous, Allogeneic, and Syngeneic Stem Cell Transplants , as well as CAR-T Therapy .
• Monitor telemetry and recognize/report dysrhythmias.
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, implanted ports, and peripheral IVs.
• Perform central line dressing changes using sterile technique.
• Administer blood products and monitor for transfusion reactions.
• Monitor laboratory values and communicate abnormal findings promptly.
• Utilize rapid response protocols when clinically indicated.
• Educate patients and families on chemotherapy, transplant recovery, medications, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR .

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience .
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Hematology/Oncology and Medical-Surgical experience .
• Current acute care experience within the last 12 months.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Chemotherapy certification required.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Required License

• Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License (must be in hand at submission)

  • Amyloidosis
  • Aplastic Anemia
  • Myeloproliferative Disorders

Schedule

• 3 × 12-hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• OR Rotating 12-hour Day/Night Shifts
• Weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Self-scheduling available

Additional Information

• 16-week travel assignment
• Float required to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Strong focus on infection prevention and care of immunocompromised patients.
• RTO (Requested Time Off) must be submitted with the application and will be built into the contract.
• Local Radius: 60 miles.
• Two professional references required (one must be from a manager/director or formal leader).
• Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing must be completed promptly after contract signing.
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemption only); COVID-19 vaccine not required.
