Position Overview

Coastal Health is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedics team in Jacksonville, FL. The primary focus of this position will be supporting our orthopedic providers and delivering excellent patient care. The Medical Assistant may also assist with podiatry services as needed.

The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and works well in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Assist orthopedic providers with patient examinations and clinical procedures.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtain and document patient vital signs and medical histories.
• Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
• Assist with patient intake, rooming, and discharge procedures.
• Support providers during orthopedic procedures as directed and trained.
• Assist with applying and removing dressings, splints, or other supportive devices as trained.
• Assist with podiatry patient care and clinical duties as needed.
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Provide patient education and follow-up instructions.
• Assist with coordinating patient care and maintaining efficient patient flow.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
• Follow infection control and safety policies.
• Work collaboratively with providers and office staff to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred, based on position requirements.
• Previous medical office or clinical experience preferred.
• Orthopedic experience is a plus; podiatry experience is beneficial.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment.
• Professional, dependable, and patient-centered approach.
• Willingness to assist across specialties as needed.
