Chrome Plating Technician - Aerospace (1st Shift)
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay: $25-$30/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM


We are seeking an experienced Chrome Plating Technician to support aerospace and defense manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for setting up and operating plating equipment to apply protective chrome coatings to metal components in accordance with precise specifications. This is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to detail, process control, and adherence to safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret work orders to determine plating requirements including material type, solution concentration, temperature, thickness, and processing time
  
  
• Load and unload parts onto racks or fixtures for processing
  
  
• Immerse parts in cleaning, rinsing, and plating baths
  
  
• Operate rectifier controls to regulate current flow and ensure proper electroplating
  
  
• Monitor plating process, making voltage and amperage adjustments as needed
  
  
• Inspect parts throughout and after processing to ensure conformance to specifications
  
  
• Measure plating thickness using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  
  
• Mask or protect areas not requiring plating
  
  
• Perform related processes such as vapor blasting, sandblasting, and degreasing
  
  
• Maintain material traceability throughout the process
  
  
• Accurately document processing times and move jobs through the MRP system
  
  
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment and work area
  
  
• Follow all safety protocols when working with machinery and hazardous chemicals

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
  
  
• 5-7 years of experience in aerospace or defense chrome plating required
  
  
• Ability to read and understand work instructions in English
  
  
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  
  
• Experience working with plating equipment, inspection tools, and chemical processes
