THE ROLE

Join our dynamic legal team as an Associate Attorney, where you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support across a diverse range of practice areas. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful legal work, develop your expertise, and contribute to the success of our firm. You will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting documents, taking depositions, appearing in court, participating in trials and arbitrations and managing your own caseload while working closely with senior attorneys to deliver exceptional service. PRACTICE AREA FOCUS

We are looking for one attorney to handle an approximately 50/50 split between employment‑specific litigation and general commercial litigation. The successful candidate will handle both single plaintiff matters and representative/class action cases, including PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) defense. PAGA experience is a priority for this role. We are also seeking an attorney for our personal injury defense practice. Both positions offer immediate case responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Independently manage employment, commercial litigation and personal injury files from intake through resolution with high autonomy. Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw to support case development and legal analysis. Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, written discovery, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity. Take and defend depositions; prepare for and participate in hearings, negotiations, arbitrations, and trials. Defend against PAGA claims and class action matters in addition to single‑plaintiff cases. Support attorneys in managing client relationships by providing timely updates and addressing inquiries professionally. Participate in negotiations on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes while adhering to ethical standards. Maintain meticulous records of legal research and administrative tasks within the law office management system. Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and staff as appropriate. Stay informed on developments across a number of legal fields.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

Active CA bar license in good standing. Mid‑level to senior litigation experience, with at least a few depositions taken and/or defended. Direct experience with PAGA matters. Background at a credible employment or personal injury law firm (boutique or large firm both welcome). Ability to independently own and manage cases with minimal supervision. Strong research and writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents. Effective negotiation and communication skills.

PREFERRED

Class action defense experience. Full‑cycle litigation experience including motions, discovery, witness prep, and trial or arbitration preparation. Prior leadership or mentoring experience. Existing client relationships or portable business (helpful but not required).

BILLABLE HOUR EXPECTATION
