Quality Manager

OverviewThe Quality Manager is responsible for all activities related to quality assurance and control including ISO certification. More specifically, this position is accountable for supervision of the technical aspects of quality assurance and control, for much of the customer and supplier contact and reporting, for oversight of all quality-related systems and procedures, and for strategic input to the operating staff regarding quality goals.The goal of this position is to support the company’s efforts to maintain the highest customer quality ratings and the lowest cost of quality through robust processes and total quality assurance. This position is accountable to customers and other departments on day-to-day quality issues, resolution coordination, and closure at root cause.ResponsibilitiesMust be familiar and able to work with all departments and personnel in the company in order to fulfill the responsibility for defect prevention and corrective action. Works closely with Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Product Management, Design Engineering, and Finance, to help drive continuous improvement in the factory to achieve quality improvement through productivity improvement and cost of quality reductions; all in adherence to Filtran quality systems and expansion thereof as appropriate to customer needs.This position must be able to follow formal problem-solving techniques such as OEM’s 8D requirements. In addition, they must have the ability to work within all levels of the Division in a patient but firm manner to achieve our strategic quality objectives.The Quality Manager will define a monthly metric dashboard to demonstrate the effectiveness of our quality assurance efforts.Oversee key department activities:PPAP activitiesAlong w/ Manufacturing Engineering, operator work instructionsQuality work instructionsSPC monitoringGage studiesCustomer ComplaintsPMDR activitiesProblem solving teamsControl plan creationIATF 16949 CertificationAlong with w/ Supply Chain Management, Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) involvement in the above, particularly w/ re: to PMDR activitiesDesign review. The Quality Manager will participate in prototype feasibility reviews, TMR, production design reviews, and customer product reviews with the following groups: Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development Engineering, customer product engineers, Filtran production.Floor inspection support. The Quality Manager is to be used as a technical resource by floor inspection personnel. This assistance will include, but not be limited to: gaging procedures, problem-solving, team formation, instruction, interpretation of control chart patterns, and response to defects of unknown origin Other duties and projects completed as assigned.QualificationsRequired:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline or related experience5+ years of automotive experience in manufacturing environment managementAutomotive background with Tier I supplierKnowledge and experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement concepts and implementationExperience with 8D or similar problem-solving methodologiesTrack records of process improvements resulting in improved quality, efficiency, and cost reductionExperience writing procedures, and corrective action processCertified Internal auditor for IATF 16949Computer proficient including MRP systemsSalary Range: $110,000-$125,000Annual Bonus potential 10%Job SummaryID: 2026-7452Job Locations: US-IL-Des PlainesCompany: FiltranPosition Type: Regular# of Openings: 1
