Location: Hotel Arista Department: Stewarding Reports to: Chef Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Compensation Range: $17.00-19.00/hour, commensurate with experience and education. Age Requirements: Must be 18+ Scheduling Requirements: Must have availability for AM & PM shifts.

Role Summary: The Steward maintains an immaculate and efficient kitchen by cleaning all dishware, China, crystal and silver, pots and pans, and stocking cleaning products, emptying trash bins and replacing garbage bags, assists in "break down" and cleanliness of buffets.

Responsibilities:

• Collects dirty pans from the cooking line and transport to pot station for cleaning.
• Cleans and maintains sanitation areas and organize cleaning supplies including hanging up mops and brooms.
• Ensures clean items are stored appropriately.
• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor.
• Ensures that all spills and breakage are attended to immediately.
• Follows hotel and departmental policies and procedures including safe practices in the workplace.
• Be familiar with applicable emergency procedures and evacuations including fire, bomb threat, power failure, and injury to and illness of persons.
• Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work nights weekends, and holidays.
• Completes any other tasks as assigned by chefs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• One-year of experience as a Dishwasher preferred.
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
• Illinois food handlers certificate strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours a day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Must be able to bend, squat and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
